My name is Bennett Sampson and I currently hold the rank of “Guro” under Mataas na Guro Clinton Grumbles and Tuhon Tim Waid of the PTK-SMF organization. I have been training Pekiti Tirsia Kali for eight years, and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
Fortunately for me I grew up in the great city of Dallas, Texas, which just so happened to be the mecca of Pekiti training globally. As an adolescent, I was an avid football player. In pursuit of higher skill on the football field, I was directed by Randy White, a good friend of mine and an ex Dallas Cowboy Hall of Fame inductee, to train in an art called “Pekiti Tirsia Kali”, which he claimed significantly improved his performance and dexterity as a Dallas Cowboy. Randy introduced me to my current instructor, Clinton Grumbles, and the rest is history.
While I have dabbled in other arts such as Yang style Tai Chi for my own personal enrichment, I have yet to find any combative art as realistic and pragmatic as Pekiti Tirsia, and for that reason, it has remained as the focus of my own personal training.
I am currently majoring in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin. During my time in Austin, I regularly train in Pekiti Tirsia Kali. I treat my study of the art no differently than my university studies, and regularly return to Dallas to train with my instructors, Clinton and Tim. I am currently looking for enthusiastic students who have an interest in learning this unique and lethal art!
